I have found at least a dozen errors up to this point, and a lot of the examples are not even there, apparently as a result of them not checking to make sure that everything came over while transitioning the book to kindle edition. My friends were all spending a couple thousand dollars on LSAT prep courses; I bought this book, followed the 5-week study guide, felt confident and prepared on the testing day, and ended up getting a perfect score-- 180. Yes, the practice tests are harder than the actual LSAT-- I scored between 165-175 on most-- but my opinion is that it's better to be pleasantly surprised with the actual LSAT than unprepared. The book does a great job of familiarizing you with the test (I knew nothing about it before this book) and even tells you things about LSAC like how to get a free actual past LSAT from them and other helpful information. The best thing it did for me was, with all its practice questions, help me identify what I needed to work on and give me a plan for fixing them. And, contrary to what another reviewer says, this book DOES NOT encourage you to bring outside knowledge to the questions-- answering within the context of the question only is one of the hardest things about the LSAT, and this book more than prepared me for it. If you need serious, intensive test prep and have a few hundred-thousand dollars you're willing to pay for it, take a course. Otherwise, this is one of the best books out there if you're willing to put the work in. I can't guarantee anything, but this book really did help me earn that 180. Read more... Along with Arrows TLS post, it simply is a must read for anyone who wants to get acquainted with transferring. As has been stated, there is precious little information out there about the process and it is better to simply find out about every aspect of transferring at the start of it all. The examples are extremely helpful as well as charts and data on how many applications schools receive, how many students they admit, and how many actual matriculate to the school. All in all, a perfect book for the process. If you receive your first semester grades and they are stellar (or good enough to transfer), and you have the desire to, I'd order this book right away. The transferring process takes an enormous amount of time during your second semester (at least for me) and reading this book helps immensely. Read more... I'd say that a couple of the Logical Reasonig chapters are useful, but that's about it. The games section is completely useless (get the Powerscore Logic Games Bible). Honestly, there are plenty of released real LSAC tests to practice on. You don't need this book. Whatever the merits of Kaplan's fake games, they just aren't really reflective of real ones. I didn't even look at reading comp, so maybe that is excellent. Though probably not. Read more... Everything you learn from the Bibles is applied in the Deconstructed series. Great explanations are provided to give you an understanding of what to look out for in wrong and right answers. Some of the hardest/somewhat controversial Logical Reasoning questions are found in these PTs, so it provides very lengthy explanations that are extremely helpful. I doubt you can find any other resource that gives as clear and detailed explanations for those questions as this book can. Also, if you buy this book (this is completely up to you), there is no need to purchase the individual 2004 PTs that are covered here because each PT is provided before the explanations. The only annoyance is that are a few typos here and there. For example in the explanations, it will say the correct answer is B (when it is actually E), but in the following explanations it will list E as the correct answer. If you have trouble telling which really is the correct answer, then maybe it is a good idea to buy the individual PTs to get the answer key. But you can probably easily get the answers somewhere else. Read more...
